There's Nothing Like Family.
Well, if there was ever a newborn session that ever hit me right in the feels, it's this one.
The feeling of such a strong and beautiful family unit had my eyes brimming with tears multiple times; both during the session and when I laid eyes on the images for the very first time immediately afterwards. The bond within this family and the beautiful love and support between each member of the family truly produced one of the largest and most stunning newborn portrait galleries in my archives.
Handsome little Finley stole my heart before I ever met the little dude; his mom has a personality that just captivated me from the very get-go. You know when you meet a person who is genuine, real, and just "gets" you? We clicked right off the bat, and I love when that happens. Because what usually results from a relationship like that is not only an amazing experience but friendship, as well. (Seriously, we sat and had coffee to chit chat the day I delivered her beautiful galleries to her!)
There Is Beauty In Being Genuine.
When I shoot a session, I do my best to visualize what it is my clients are trying to accomplish with their session. Whether they know right away or not, I love to chit-chat and converse with my clients well before the session even takes place to get a good, sound feeling about what their personality is like, what they gravitate to, and how I'll go about capturing images that will truly translate their personalities, style, and showcase what it is they value; in this case, it was family.
Grandparents (and Great Grandma!) showed up to this session and we all had a blast as they took turns taking Finley into their arms for a portrait. There were tears, there were laughs, and all-around an incredible experience that ended the session on a high note full of gratitude from not only them but from myself as well. What a true honour to be allowed a small peek into witnessing these beautiful interactions and capturing them permanently for a family to relive over and over; my job is not only the most beautiful job in the world but so touching at the same time.
I get hit right in the feels every single time, and I'm addicted to it.
I love when clients bring small, everyday items that mean something to them. Even something as simple as a pair of itty-bitty Converse shoes; mom loves Converse shoes and filled her Instagram with snapshots of her converse at all the places she's adventured in the world. And now, her grandest adventure has begun as she has welcomed her first little boy into the world.

We need to fix this.
That's Better ;)
I was absolutely obsessed with Finley's adorable face and handsome head of hair! I couldn't stop photographing him. I kept saying, "One more... okay, just one more. I promise this is the last one. No... THIS is the last one." I can't help myself when a baby is being so cooperative and is as photogenic as this little dude!
I know they say to let the sleeping babies lie. But, that's just not my style in the studio. Ha!
But, even though he was an amazing baby to pose and put together a stunning solo gallery for mom to treasure for years to come, what really touched me was the sheer number of group family portraits (gorgeously backlit and perfectly timeless) that breathtakingly portrays just how loved this sweet baby boy and his mama are.
S'cuze me. I need to go find myself a tissue. I'm getting misty-eyed all over again!
