A Sweet Spring Newborn Session • Welcoming a Precious Baby Girl to the Airdrie Studio
At Hocus Focus Photography, we absolutely adore babies! Since 2015, we’ve specialized in the art of newborn photography, capturing timeless images that families can cherish forever here in Calgary and Airdrie, Alberta. From stunning printed artwork to a seamless, stress-free experience, our thoughtfully designed studio and process ensure that every session is as enjoyable as it is meaningful.
There’s something extra special about photographing a family member’s firstborn, and I had the absolute honour of capturing this sweet baby girl’s very first portraits. From the moment she arrived at my Airdrie studio, she was an absolute dream—so sleepy, snuggly, and content. Her session was filled with soft, spring-inspired setups, and every moment with her was pure joy! Her parents drove all the way from Okotoks, and I think that it was worth the little road-trip for these precious moments.
We started with a beautiful minty sage wrap—one of my favourite colours for spring sessions. It’s soft, fresh, and works beautifully with newborn skin tones. From there, I transitioned into classic neutral tones for timeless images that will never go out of style. And the best part? She gifted me the cutest little smile mid-session! There is nothing better than capturing those unexpected, fleeting expressions that melt hearts.
Of course, I couldn’t resist bringing out one of my all-time favourite props—my heart-shaped bowl. It’s such a delicate, cozy setup that always turns out stunning! And to make it even more special, she wore a tiny set of knitted PJs that I made myself. (Yes, I dabble in knitting, and I love incorporating handmade pieces into my sessions!) We ended with a classic pink tushie-up pose, which showed off her sweet little rolls—every newborn photographer’s dream.
Beyond the session itself, this one was extra meaningful for me. Getting to catch up with family while doing what I love made it even more special, and seeing the parents’ excitement over their beautiful baby girl was just the cherry on top. I am beyond grateful for their trust in me to document these once-in-a-lifetime moments.
Newborn photography isn’t just about capturing tiny fingers and sleepy smiles—it’s about preserving the fleeting magic of the first days, the love that overflows, and the moments that become a family’s most cherished memories.
