Cadence's Newborn Session
Studio Newborn Baby Photographer NW Calgary, Alberta
I always do a little dance when I see a familiar name pop up in my email inquiries - this time I was pleased to see a familiar name, one that I graduated with in high school (back in 2009 - oof!)
I was so excited to book this newborn session. Mom was smart and booked early in her pregnancy, knowing that I book months in advance. A lot of my clients book fresh into their second trimester, right after the 12-week mark, which makes it much easier to book a date and plan for the session. The hardest part is just waiting for baby to come!
Finally, little Cadence arrived with all of her glorious hair! She is absolutely adorable, and I just couldn't wait to have her in my studio. I was happy to include her "big brother", Douglas, a super cuddly (and slightly timid) Goldendoodle. We had to do a little bit of behind-the-scenes magic, since all of the new things in the studio had him feeling a little nervous. But, after some coaxing and just taking our time, we finally got those goal images that Mom & Dad really wanted!
I could have photographed Cadence all day - she slept so soundly while I worked with her and we were able to get so many different setups and poses with her. Mom & Dad loved their gallery and picked their favourites, and I was so happy to deliver the photos they always wanted of their brand new baby!
"I am more excited for these photos than my wedding photos!" Mom said. I can relate to that feeling - there's just something about seeing your little baby in all the different poses and setups that makes your heart melt. At one point during the session, little Cadence was snoozing away in my heart bowl and we all just took a moment to gather around her and watch her dream away, as comfortable as can be in her little yellow PJs and nestled into the heart bowl. SO CUTE!
I am so happy with this gallery and loved seeing my long-time-ago friend again with her new baby girl, and meeting her husband and fur baby, too. It's funny, growing up in high school talking about growing up and having kids seems so far away and almost like a fantasy. But then it happens, and I love that we can all come together and celebrate the new generation through the beautiful art form of photography.
"I’ve spent years following Amanda’s work, eagerly awaiting the day she would photograph my baby! And she did not disappoint! It’s no surprise she books up months in advance (make sure to secure your spot early). She did her research on us, making sure to learn our favourite colours, styles, and poses. When we arrived for our photoshoot, she even had my favourite Starbucks drink waiting for me. I was enamoured with the way she was able to coax my little girl into the cutest positions. She was careful to provide a safe, warm environment for my little one. Not only that, she welcomed our “fur baby” into the studio for some adorable “sibling” and family photos. Our doodle was a bit spooked with the new environment, but Amanda was so patient with him! She was able to get all of the adorable shots we hoped for. Seeing the beautiful gallery of photos at the ordering appointment was an incredible, emotional experience. I will cherish these photos for the rest of my life. Amanda was so professional, thoughtful, and flexible during this whole process. I will wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a newborn/family photographer!" ~ C. McInnes
