Juniper • Newborn Session • Calgary Newborn Photography
This session was almost a last-minute, spur of the moment idea after I had completed and delivered a beautiful gallery to thrilled parents and grandparents. The grandparents of this little lady, who was still just a few weeks from her due date at the time, were so enthralled with how the images and overall experience of their grandson's newborn session, that they insisted they gift their due-any-day grand-daughter the same beautiful gift!
Meet little Juniper!
The first time I heard her name I was already absolutely in love! After reaching out to mom and asking what kinds of colours and styles she would love for her baby girl's session, I was excited to hear that she was open to pretty well anything I had up my sleeve, as long as there were a couple of neutral options as well. This is always something I work into sessions; I love pops of colour, but I also love neutral, timeless images. It gives families the options to choose their favourites, and we always take into consideration how they plan on displaying their portraits, as well, to help in the portrait selections. In this case, Mom & Dad (and grandparents!) loved them all and were excited to take home their entire gallery!
Big brother, Wilson, was an exceptionally well-behaved 2-year-old, who was quite laid back and rather content with the idea of being photographed with his new baby brother. Mind you, just a couple of weeks before the session, this poor little dude had an accident and was in a leg cast, so movement wasn't really an option for him at the time. But, despite the cast, I doubt we would have had any trouble with him cooperating at all. He was calm, he was happy to cooperate, and even though he was a little bit timid and wasn't sure on what expression to where on that handsome little face, it appears that little Juniper was perfectly happy to work up the charm! I think a little someone is going to really love her big brother!
Wilson's little sheep, Baa, had to be included in a couple of shots (of course). But Mom & Dad were perfectly fine with it and had actually made Baa known to me before the session, so I was a little excited to meet this Baa. As you can see, he is a very-much-loved part of Wilson's life, and having Baa included in the session not only makes an adorable addition and an undeniable charm to the portraits, but it's a special little part of their lives that they will look back on and say, "Oh my gosh! Look! It's Baa! I remember him!"
What a good looking and photogenic bunch! I am so happy I got to work with this family; they were so fun to work with, and we had a great time chatting about our kids and their funny little quirks as we worked through Juniper's newborn session.
What a beautiful newborn baby! Juniper had so much hair, and she was so easy to work with. She was an excellent sleeper, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the studio with her! Her gallery makes my heart throb.
Even when baby is awake, we utilize as much time as we can in the studio to make sure we are putting together a beautiful gallery full of variety. I love doing this simple portrait shots that focus on the different expressions that baby makes! Some are adorable, some are neutral, and some are just downright hilarious! Parents always are pleasantly surprised by how much they love these portraits.
I hope you enjoy Juniper's gallery as much as I do!
