Holy Toledo, Batman! 

This cake smash goes down in my history books as one of my favourite cake smashes of all time. I absolutely LOVE Batman, so when Nahal's mom picked the theme for this Dark Knight, I was head over heels in love with this cake smash from the very beginning. 

Nahal was a teeny, tiny newborn on my beanbag once upon a time; I absolutely love seeing all of my newborn clients again a year later for their cake smashes! I love seeing how they've grown and what kind of personalities they've developed over the year. And Nahal is a busy little body, but with a BIG heart and even bigger smiles. He had us all laughing while he smooshed his cake with the full intention of completely obliterating it into a pile of goop. There was NO cake left when he was done, just the smashed remnants of the sweet treat smeared across the floor remained by the time he was done. 

Nahal's older brother had a super-hero themed cake smash when he turned one, and that's why Nahal's parents decided to kind of go along and stick with the super-hero theme. I loved hearing their surprised and excited voices when they saw the set for the first time; it was SO much fun to put together and I couldn't wait to get started!

My oldest daughter helped me hand-make the city backdrop for this cake smash. We had lots of fun scheming and planning this perfect set, and the sparkly windows of the cityscape were her idea! It was a set that pulled together so perfectly, and I love how the black makes all of the other colours pop. I never really thought I'd ever shoot a cake smash on a full black backdrop, but I am SO glad that this plan pulled together and worked as well as it did. It's definitely a Batman theme, in a fun and birthday-like way!

The perfect cake smash, what this little hero deserves! This was so much fun! 

All of my cake smashes end with a bubble bath - it's usually baby's FAVOURITE part of the entire session, and you go home with a clean baby and leave me with the goopy mess left behind to clean up. But I really don't mind... it's totally worth it after all of the fun and adorable pictures captured during a cake smash session!
