Upon their first inquiry, I was told a story that clutched my heart as I read the email through tear-filled eyes.
Sweet baby Thomas is a rainbow baby. This means he was born following a loss and we acknowledge those lost little ones which with the symbol of a rainbow, like what appears after every storm.
Thomas has an older brother, who I'm sure looks down smiling from above, and who was born sleeping not that long ago. And while I can imagine there was fear and a sense of anxiety when Thomas decided to show up earlier than expected, it's a flooding and warming sense of relief that Mom & Dad got to bring home their perfect bundle this time, and that I had the privilege in photographing baby Thomas and honouring his older brother in some shots, as well, with his teddy bear.
To hold and snuggle little Thomas meant the world to me. This couple has been blessed with a truly precious miracle and I feel so happy for them to see this perfect little human nestled fast asleep in their arms. I'm sure the pain never goes away, but I do know that whether our loved ones are with us or have their wings, they are still as much a part of the family either way and are so loved. And we remember them forever and for always.
This sweet baby boy was a smiley little thing, cracking smiles left, right and centre throughout his session. And I caught quite a few of them! Sometimes they happen so quickly it's but a futile effort to capture it. But sometimes, it's like little baby knows exactly when I'm going to push the shutter button, and they let loose a grin for the ages. There's just something about brand new baby grins that just warm you up from the inside out. I get butterflies in my tummy every time it happens, I just love capturing those sweet little smiles. And I know some say, "It's just gas" but I mean... I don't know if I 100% believe that. Because they look like genuine, happy smiles in my opinion!
I think it's quite obvious to see that Thomas absolutely nailed his session, and even though we had to take a quick moment to clean up during the parent shots (hey, naked babies, some things are bound to happen!) he stayed sound asleep and we continued on without any further interruptions. 3 weeks new and little Thomas was an absolute gem, I hope I am so lucky to see him again soon for a very, very sweet cake smash!
Here is Thomas, everyone!
