Golden Hour Family Photoshoot • Calgary Family Portraits
This is a little moment that I know I will never forget, and will probably think of every time I open my van door to grab my camera bag before a family session.
I pulled up into the parking lot and started prepping my gear for a family shoot. The breeze was warm and amidst the sounds of birds singing and bugs buzzing about in the grass. Suddenly I felt a tiny little tap on my leg from behind me.
I turned around to find the biggest blue eyes staring back at me. Her hair was blonde and she blinked up at me with those intense eyes. "Hello," I said. "Are you ready for your family session today?"
And that was it. She erupted into chatter and giggling that didn't stop for the rest of the evening. We were best friends by the end of the hour, haha!
I absolutely loved this session with this Momma and her two adorable girls. We had so much fun chasing butterflies, sniffing flowers, blowing dandelions, and playing ring-around-the-rosie.
The golden hour sun was breathtaking, but as a thunderstorm rolled in the sky transformed before our eyes and made the evening all the more spectacular. It was a photographer's dream! And the photos are the proof in the pudding.
These two sisters were quite different from each other - although they both have some sort of neverending energy source. I want to know about it because I don't think coffee is cutting it for me anymore - haha! But I loved watching them interact with their surroundings and with each other and their gorgeous Mama.
As my own children continue to grow, as children do, I start to notice little things that have changed that I have started to miss. Things like: picking them up and twirling them in circles (without breaking my back), or even the fact that they once didn't even reach the height of my hip (and now can rest their head on my shoulder while standing in line).
I'm thankful for this session. Not just because of the beautiful people I got to meet and the wonderful evening that we were blessed with that day. But for the gentle reminder to soak in all those precious moments, no matter how small they may seem at the time because one day it might just be that "little thing" that gets all those memories flooding back to you again. :)
Hope you're all enjoying your summer! I know I am!
