I am often asked if being a newborn photographer keeps the baby fever at bay. And the answer is this: Yes, and no. While I am completely indulgent on the baby snuggles and sweet smell of newborns, it only makes me miss having my own little squish to snuggle and cuddle all day long. BUT... newborns turn into toddlers. Enough said. So.. while the newborns may not keep the baby fever toned down, my own toddlers, in fact, do. :P So, I live vicariously through my clients and just soak in every minute of those hours I have with a brand new little human.
This session's model sweet baby McKenzie- a little one who was quite content in lulling herself to sleep without the aid of bum pats and swaying. It wasn't until I tried just simply laying her down in a bouncy chair that this baby girl decided to slip into a deep sleep. But, oh, when she finally did, she was amazing. Even for the short sprint she was asleep, she was just the sweetest little squish to work with. Such a fair little lady with blonde fuzz on her head, and blonde lashes to boot. And skin as smooth as porcelain - ahh! She is perfection.
Tummy poses were a no go for this baby girl! Even in her deep sleep, she quickly realized when I had rolled her over for a third attempt at some tummy poses, and she put a prompt stop to that! But that didn't stop us from getting some stunning, baby-led shots as little Miss looked on curiously at her surroundings, and nevertheless put together a stunning gallery for Mom and Dad to pick from.
Her Daddy was 100% involved in helping comfort his baby girl and letting her know that everything was fine, and hearing his gentle words of reassurance to his baby girl gave me warm fuzzies in my heart. Daddies with their babies is truly such a sight to behold, and I love every single little bit of it. Baby McKenzie is a little sister to two fur babies who remained at home (though they are so sweet sounding, according to Dad's stories, that I hope I one day get to meet them, as well!)
It's clearly obvious that McKenzie has been welcomed into the family with welcoming arms and a strong love for her. And I am so thankful for the privilege and the honour to have been her newborn portrait photographer. Congratulations to this wonderful family, and I look forward to seeing you all again in the future!
She may be small, but she is fierce. :) World, this is McKenzie.
