Hocus Focus Photography has done a lot of growth in the last 3 years, and so has some of the amazing client families that I am so honoured to have now photographed for more than one little baby to have joined the crew!
3 years ago, I had the great pleasure in snuggling little Kingsley as a brand new baby, and when I saw her Momma's name in my email inbox inquiring for another newborn session, my heart fluttered with joy! Another baby girl for this wonderful (and extremely photogenic!) family and I am so truly honoured that they returned to me for more newborn portraits!
It was like deja vu when I first laid eyes on precious little Hayden - she and her sister look so much alike, the family resemblance is uncanny! I found myself reminiscing back to Kingsley's newborn session several times throughout the session, but this time within the walls of my very own studio.
Big sister Kingsley was extremely well behaved and absolutely loved snuggling her baby sister, Hayden, during their moment in the spotlight. I love the early interactions between new siblings, and perhaps I have a soft spot for sisters (having 3 girls of my own), but I just absolutely adore how snuggly and "mom-like" they become, wanting to snuggle a new little family member and help out as much as they can. Sure, their tiny fingers may get in the way more than actually help, but it's their tender little hearts and their want to be a contributing member to the family by helping with the new baby that just warms my heart and jitters the butterflies in my tummy. It's absolutely adorable.
Hayden had some bring-along props made by doting family members that her mum wished to include in their session, which I am always so excited to use and try to see how I can use them creatively to make a beautiful and meaningful keepsake to be enjoyed for years to come. Though we try, crochet and/or knit outfits are often hard to fit onto a brand new little baby without making them disappear in a ball of wool, so some creative measures were taken to ensure these handmade bits of love were shown of beautifully but didn't take away from little Hayden (for example, we turned a cute little sweater into a layered "blanket" for a couple of the shots, and another into a makeshift wrap). But, I mean, that pink and white hat is so stinkin' cute, and makes for an adorable and unique newborn photo that will hold close and beautiful meaning for all family members who will enjoy these photos!
I like to encourage my clients to bring along cute little meaningful things to their sessions; even if we may have to find a "different" way of making it work, at least it's a cute memento to include in your baby's very first photo session, and a great way to add your own personal uniqueness and style to your session. Truly one of a kind!
Apart from that, little Hayden was clearly a total doll to work with and was such a joy to snuggle, and I am so truly thankful and excited to see this family again and to create more keepsakes with them. :) This was a great way to kick off Spring, and this set the pace for a very, very enjoyable spring full of wonderful sessions, indeed!
Introducing to you: Hayden!

Lucille J. M. Falkner - I am the doting Mimzy that crocheted the pink and white set for Hayden. Haven't crocheted in decades, but never forgot how. I never had a chance to make goodies for Kingsley as a newborn, so it was extra sweet to see my creations come to life on such a sweet model as Hayden. Really enjoyed how you intertwined my work into the photo shoot. Your beautiful photography was the talk of all who laid eyes on the pictures. My chiropractor Dr. Michelle who is due with her 2nd child at the end of July, only wishes you were nearby, as she would of liked to have you do her photo shoot too!
