Cade & Shae are going to be the best of friends! With Cade being a big brother at 18 months (and let me tell you, he did AMAZING during his session despite being so young himself!) and a brand new baby in the house, I know that life is busy busy busy for this family, but is going to be full of so many incredible memories for them at the same time as these two little ones go through life together experiencing the same phases tackling the same hurdles together. I have no doubt their relationship will be nothing short of amazing!
Now, let me tell you. I thought my daughters, Sydney and Kimber, we close together at 20 months apart. Yes, it's busy. It was challenging at times. But, to be honest, I wouldn't have it any other way. Because even though it felt like I had back-to-back babies, that I have are two daughters that go everywhere hand-in-hand.
First there was one...
... and then there were two!
I had the great pleasure of photographing Cade as a brand new little baby. And I talk about the little bear in these photos all the time, because it's a little bear that Daddy made with his own hands. When I learned that, I just found it to be the cutest idea ever and I still chat about it all the time and absolutely loved including it into Cade's session; naturally that meant we HAD to include it for baby sister's session, too!
Introducing: Shae
This peanut, my goodness. Between her and her brother, it's heart-throbs for days! I don't know how Mom is going to handle those goo-goo eyes from the both of them, but oh my goodness. These kiddos are just the sweetest little things!
Shae initially looked to be completely unamused with the bucket posing and how the session appeared to be unfolding, but it wasn't long afterwards that she drifted off to sleep (as per usual after we've wrapped them up like 'taters!) and off we went on another whirlwind adventure in the studio (if we can call it that!)
There Is Method To This 'Taterness
I always do a portion of a session with a baby wrapped. Not only for the adorable round-look of these poses, but there is an actual reason for this (sometimes laughed at) pose.
- It gets baby nice and sleepy.
- If the baby is awake, it keeps them still.
- It's adorable (duh)
- They are comfortable.
- It's efficient for quick set changes and getting a rapid variation of setups and parent/sibling poses.
- It keeps them safe while being moved around for different poses apart from naked poses.
I know that everyone has different tastes when it comes to newborn poses. Some LOVE a wrapped baby while others prefer the posed images. Most like a variety of both. I have a flow with posing babies that have proven to work over and over again for newborn babies, and it always includes wrapping at some point. Clients always get the option to pick the images they love the most of their babies, and I always provide a beautiful number of images to pick from. It makes it easy for parents to focus on the poses they love the most, so if they prefer one style over the other, or love a mix of both, there is always a beautiful variety for them to browse through and we have such a fun time doing it!
I know for Mom & Dad it was a huge blessing to have their second little one arrive so soon after her brother. And I am certain that these two little ones are going to be the best of friends! From getting into trouble together to having each other's backs in life. I see it already in my own little ones, and I truly hope that their relationships will continue to blossom and grow into beautiful friendships as they get older!
I'm the oldest of four siblings, and we are all generally about 2 years apart. I like to think that in our younger years we were actually quite close - at least, now, in my mind when I think back to it, we were. We've since grown up and moved away and started lives of our own. But it doesn't stop me from remembering back to when we were little, playing with Barbie dolls and make funny noises under the covers when we were supposed to be sleeping. Childhood is a fun and wonderful time, and siblings make it even more of a memorable and fond phase of our lives.
But, I mean, at the end of the day, whether my siblings and I were 2 years apart or 12 years apart. I think that being a big (or little) sister/brother is a pretty special thing... and it's definitely something to be enjoyed when the world is all about play, adventure, and making fond memories!
I consider myself very privileged and take it as a huge compliment to have been Cade and Shae's newborn photographer, and I hold so much joy in my heart for this truly beautiful family. They are always such a great joy to work with; they are amazing, their kids are amazing, and I just have to say that whenever I see Mom's name pop up in my inbox, I just can't help hear her contagious laugh and it brings a smile to my face right away.
Welcome to the world, little Shae. You are so loved.
